cucumber

The cucumber is an integral part of traditional Indian medicine [1]. Hardly any other vegetable or fruit is so rich in water and yet so low in calories [1]. Pretty much everyone has the pictures from "beauty magazines" in mind in which people put cucumber pieces on their faces. This is due to the fact that the cucumber's liquid is very nutritious for the skin and helps impurities and irritations [1]. The liquid can also be very useful to help sunburnt skin recover [1]. Even more importantly, cucumbers have a detoxifying effect on the body and can free it from harmful toxins [1].

The treatment of vitiligo or white spot disease which is a chronic skin disease is a special example for how cucumbers can be used as medicinal products [2; 3]. Thanks to the cucumber's antioxidant effect in combination with a little sulfur powder, a man was able to treat and cure the symptoms of his white spot disease [3].
